Ongar and District Community Association Events
Our next Comedy Night is on August 11th. This will again be run in conjunction with Laughing Chili and raising much needed funds. Come and enjoy another hilarious night of comedy, the fourth in a very successful series of fun evenings, with a top line-up of fabulous comedians from the UK comedy circuit. Tickets sell out very quickly so don’t forget to book yours at www.laughingchili.co.uk(scroll down to find Ongar.) Tickets are £15.00. The door and bar open at 7.30pm, and the show starts at 8.30pm.
Unfortunately, due to a lack of ticket reservations, we had to cancel our last Quiz Night and the Family Disco. We ask for a ticket reservation so we can see how many people are planning to attend as we need to plan for, and pay, bar staff for the evening. Our events, run by the team at Budworth Hall (OCDA), are put on to bring the community together and to help raise money for the upkeep and refurbishment of the Budworth Hall. The team are all volunteers and give their time freely, but there is an inevitable cost involved in organising these events, so we do have to ensure that there is enough interest to make them viable. Please continue to support us by attending our events, and we would welcome any suggestions or ideas of what you would like to see being held in Budworth Hall. Our aim is to raise funds by providing events for the community to enjoy.
Other News and Updates
Remedial works on the hall continues and include the now fully completed roof repairs, which should see a leak free Budworth Hall for at least 25 years. Work on many interior facilities is continuing and to date include new, in keeping, bar doors, that also give better disabled access to the bar area. The next project the team is looking at is redecoration and refurbishment of the ballroom. These projects are very expensive which is why raising funds is our priority, to enable us to carry on with this essential work.
The Senior Wellness Hub,10am on Tuesday mornings, is very popular with the more mature residents of Ongar, including me! I know that my mobility and balance have improved over the weeks. Michelle and Amanda are intending to add another session as they are at full capacity, with a waiting list. The sessions are free for over 65s and provide gentle, progressive exercises to aid maintaining mobility and building strength. A cup of tea or coffee with a chance to chat after the class is also provided. Many thanks to Amanda and Michelle for giving their time to deliver these sessions.
As well as raising funds, we need bodies too! We are always looking for people to join our team, or offers of help with our events. Please contact the office if you feel you can spare some time to support us.

The Ballroom, Concert Hall and Committee Room are available for hire 7 days a week at competitive rates. Please contact us for availability. Individual pricing applies for Weddings, depending upon requirements.
