Ongar and District Community Association Events
Our Tea Dance, held in July, was a tremendous success with 76 people attending and enjoying an afternoon of music, dance, good company, tea, and scrummy cakes! Those attending completed a simple survey and the results indicated a desire for further Tea Dances, including at the weekends or in the evenings. Our next Tea Dance will be before Christmas.
August 11th saw our fourth Comedy Night, held in conjunction with Laughing Chili. Another evening of fun and laughter with a fabulous line up. The next Comedy night is On November 3rd so keep the date free. A great way to escape the winter weather and the woes of the world in the lovely Budworth Hall ballroom.
We will be resuming our Quiz Nights in the autumn with a new format. Tracie, who runs the incredibly popular quiz nights at The Stag PH, has offered to bring her energetic and fun style of quizzing to Budworth Hall and help boost our funds. The date and how to reserve your tickets will be available soon.
Events run by the team at Budworth Hall (OCDA), are put on to bring the community together and help raise money for the upkeep and refurbishment of the Budworth Hall. We are all volunteers and give our time freely so please continue to support us by attending our events. We welcome any suggestions or ideas of the type of events you would like to see being held in Budworth Hall.

In July, we welcomed Teddy Brown and Tracie O’Reilly to the committee. We thank them for offering their time, help and support to the OCDA. There is still much to be done and as the saying goes “many hands make light work!” If you feel you can spare some time or have hidden talents you can share, please get in touch.
Work to improve the hall continues. An application for new front doors has been submitted and door closers have been fitted to the new bar doors. Alongside our plans to redecorate and refurbish the ballroom, we are also investigating the installation of a new sound and lighting system. We now have Wi-Fi available throughout the building and are planning to upgrade our website to make it more user friendly
The Senior Wellness Hub has been so successful that Michelle and Amanda have now added a second session on Tuesday mornings. Many thanks to them for providing these sessions which are free for over 65s and provide gentle, progressive exercises to aid maintaining mobility and building strength.
We would like to thank Amanda and Michelle for their kind donation of £300 towards a defibrillator, which is one important item on our shopping list. The money was raised at a sponsored Clubersize event, so our thanks also to all those who attended.

The Ballroom, Concert Hall and Committee Room are available for hire 7 days a week at competitive rates. Individual pricing applies for Weddings, depending upon requirements.
