Ongar and District Community Association Events

Our Comedy Club Night on Friday November 3rd was a sell out! It was the first-year anniversary of Laughing Chili Comedy Club bringing a top line up of fabulous comedians to Budworth Hall and Ongar, and yet again was a great evening of fun and laughter. The next Comedy Club Night is on February 16th 2024. Book your tickets early to avoid disappointment at www.laughingchili.co.uk (scroll down to find Ongar.) Tickets are £15.00. The door & bar open at 7.30pm, and the show starts at 8.30pm.

A Seniors’ Christmas Social was held on Wednesday 29th November. This proved very popular with about 70 tickets sold by the beginning of November.

The Budworth Christmas Party Night is on Saturday 2nd December, 7pm to 12am. Tickets will be £18.00. Further information and how to get tickets on our social media pages and notice board. There will be live singers and a Christmas Disco to get you in the festive mood. Food available from Nerrissa and Claire’s café.

Other News and Updates

At the AGM on October 27th, the officers and committee volunteered to continue for another year and were duly elected. All those who attended were offered a complementary drink and informal chat in the bar after the meeting closed.

A new Salsa Dancing Club will be starting on Thursday 18th January, 8.00pm to 11.00pm. Look out for further information on our social media pages and notice boards.

Thanks to Michelle Russell (Maximize Fitness) and Amanda McGregor (Heart of Holistic Health) who have presented us with a donation towards a defibrillator. The money was raised at a sponsored Clubbercise event earlier in the year. Thanks to all who participated.

We have been given a grant from Active Essex towards the installation of a disabled toilet. Thanks to Jackie for her hard work in organising that, and the installation of our new, more welcoming front doors.

The grand piano, which was donated to Budworth Hall by Ongar Comprehensive School in 1989, has been donated back to our local secondary school, now The Ongar Academy. Many thanks to Grandad Phil (Philip Elgie) who organised it. If you are interested in the history of the piano, Grandad Phil wrote an excellent article about it in March’s Ongar News titled “They call me Ibach.”

Keep checking our social media pages and notice board to keep up to date with information about events being held in the hall.
